Depends. If the service connected caused his death or not. If it was not the reason for the death under 1318 he would have had to have the 100 for 10 years. Average time for NOD is about 400 days....

Even if you check on your NOD form that you want a call the DRO doesn't have to call, it depends on whether they feel anything will come of it.
